How to Dynamically Discount Products Added from a Rebuy Widget

Welcome to another episode of Rebuy Academy! In this episode, we will be discussing how to dynamically discount products added from a Rebuy widget using the Shopify Script Editor or Shopify Scripts. Please note that this feature is only available to Shopify Plus merchants. If you would like to surface discounted products through a Rebuy widget, we will cover that in another help doc. For now, let's focus on Shopify Scripts.

Shopify Script Editor

To begin, let's take a look at a product page widget. Currently, all of the widgets are displaying a 25% off discount. However, if you add the product to the cart, it is still full-priced. To actually discount these widgets, after you have set a discount type of either percentage or fixed in your widget settings, you will need to go to the Shopify Script app.

In your backend, you can scroll to the Shopify Script Editor. This is a free app for Shopify Plus merchants. You can create a new script by clicking on the "Script Editor" button. From there, you can create a line item script that is a blank template. Click "Create Script" and you will have a blank empty template with some code output.

If you don't know how to code, don't worry! We can actually just use our help doc. Scroll down to see how to show a discount on the widget. Creating a blank script like we just did, we can copy and paste the code provided in the help doc.

From here, we will follow the script down below to uncomment our code and change out a few things. We need to change the widget ID, the percent or the fixed type of discount, as well as the amount of discount that we're giving. You can apply this to specific product IDs or you can just make it so that any product that comes from our widget will get a discount applied to it.

Because in our widget settings we wrote a 25% off discount percentage, we just want to make sure that it will apply to every product ID. So, we will uncomment this code by clicking command shift. Our widget ID is 7396, so we will go back to our script and change the widget ID to 7396. We want this to be a percentage discount, and we want that to be 25% off.

The last thing we want to do is delete the "Only Apply to Product IDs" section. Make sure you have no errors here, which is good. You don't have to publish this to your online store to test. Make sure you give it a good name. I'm going to call this our "25% off script". Click "Save Draft" and once this is saved, if you'd like to preview it on your online store, you can go to the output box and click the "Preview on the Online Store" link. In my case, this isn't a live website, so I can click "Save and Publish". I will publish this script as it has no errors.

Now, I can head back to my page. I open up my cart and see it is still full price. I can give this a refresh and the discount will apply at checkout. I can click this and head to my checkout. Now we can see here the discount has been applied. I'm getting 25% off my cotton t-shirt. The language is saying "Limited Time Offer" which can be edited down here as well.
